VHK Privacy Policy

VHK (Victoria Hire Karting) is published by Recon Media. VHK helps you find Victorian hire kart tracks and events, save events to your calendar in the app and organise reminders. This policy explains how the app handles information.
Information kept on your device
Your display name, chosen favourite track, saved event selections, reminder settings, appearance settings and event filters are stored on your device. Attendance totals and the automatically calculated favourite track are based on your saved events. These personal selections are not uploaded to our track and event database. You do not need an account to browse tracks or save events.
The app shares saved event information with its widgets through storage shared between the app and widget on your device. Device backups managed by Apple may also include local app information, depending on your settings.
Optional location access
If you choose to sort tracks by proximity, VHK asks for permission to access your location while you use the app. It uses a location request to estimate straight-line distances to tracks. Distance calculations happen on your device. VHK does not upload your location to its database or continuously track you in the background.
Apple’s mapping services are used to look up venue addresses. You can refuse or withdraw location access in iPhone Settings and continue using the other track sorting options.
Track data, event data and photos
VHK downloads its shared track information, event information and images from Supabase. Network services receive technical information necessary to handle requests, such as your IP address and request details. Service providers may retain technical logs to operate and secure their services. These requests do not include your VHK display name, saved event selections or location.
The app keeps a local copy of directory information so previously downloaded information can remain available offline. Some images may require an internet connection.
Reminders
With your permission, VHK schedules local notifications on your device for saved events. Notification permission can be changed in iPhone Settings, and reminder choices can be changed within VHK. The app does not need to send saved event selections to a notification server to schedule these reminders.
Administrator access
Authorised administrators can sign in to manage shared track and event content. Supabase processes their email address, password and authentication requests. This access is separate from normal use of the app. Administrator authentication credentials are not required to browse VHK.
Support and information you send us
If you contact support, we receive your email address, message and any information or attachments you choose to send. We use these to respond, investigate problems and correct information. Please do not send passwords or other sensitive information. Support correspondence is kept while needed to resolve and follow up on the enquiry, subject to any applicable record-keeping requirements.
Sharing and external services
When you choose to share a track or event, the information you share is passed to the app or recipient you select using the system share sheet. Opening a venue website or directions takes you to an external browser or mapping service. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies.

This website
These support and privacy pages do not use analytics scripts, advertising trackers or contact forms. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare Pages, may process technical request information to deliver and protect the website. Contacting us opens your email app; no support message is submitted through this website.
Advertising and tracking
VHK does not contain advertising or third-party advertising tracking. The app does not sell your personal information. The current app does not include a separate analytics SDK.
Your choices and deletion
You can change your display name, favourite track, appearance and event preferences in Profile, and remove saved events from My Events. You can turn off notifications and location access in iPhone Settings. Deleting the app removes its local app data; restoring a device backup may restore previously backed-up information. Contact support if you would like us to address information you have sent directly to us.
Younger users
Junior and adult event filters describe the events shown; VHK does not ask for a date of birth to use those filters. Parents or guardians can assist younger users with permission settings and contacting support. Venue eligibility rules still apply.
Security and changes
We use encrypted network connections for the app’s directory and administrator requests. No method of storage or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. We may update this policy when the app or its information practices change, and will update the date above.
